As lead partner in the Sutton Music Hub, Sutton Music Service works with a range of partner organisations to create all kinds of opportunities for children and young people in the London Borough of Sutton to have an excellent, high quality music education.
Supported using public funding by the Department for Education and Arts Council England, we are tasked with delivering the aspirations of the National Plan for Music Education.
Thousands of children gain their first experience of learning to play a musical instrument through our successful ‘First Access’ Whole Class Ensemble Tuition (WCET) programme.
Our ensembles provide opportunities for young musicians to progress through our structure of bands, orchestras and choirs. We work closely with local schools and academies to support and augment music provision, develop a singing strategy and offer an extensive and affordable instrument loan service.
Sutton Music Service is part of Cognus Limited, a private company jointly owned by the London Borough of Sutton and local schools. Cognus is the leading provider of education support services, working closely with the London Borough of Sutton, local schools and academies and other educational settings.
Sutton has a national reputation for excellence in education, and is consistently one of the best performing local authority areas in England. Our approach and aspirations mirrors that of our schools and acadmies for excellence and achievement for all children and young people, whatever their background
