Online Ensemble Application

Applications for places in ensembles and music schools are now processed through our website, via an online application form.

Terms and conditions

To proceed to the application form you must first read and agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. An application form must be completed and signed by Parent/Carer.

2. The Ensembles Co-ordinator will allocate the player to an appropriate ensemble.

3. Fees for membership of ensembles are paid termly with no reduction for missed rehearsals. Fees for all Music Service activities are highly subsidised by London Borough of Sutton. Current fees are £55 per term and £27.50 for siblings. Fees for the first term must be paid on the first attendance at rehearsal. Cheques should be made payable to London Borough of Sutton. Subsequently an invoice will be sent out each term.

4. Ensemble members will move up to the next ensemble by audition, subject to vacancies.

5. Players who have not played in any of the other borough ensembles may be required to audition.

6. Members are expected to attend rehearsals each week. If this is impossible, it is important that notice is given to the Ensembles Co-ordinator or by calling the Music Service office at the earliest opportunity.

7. Members are expected to behave in a responsible manner which does not endanger themselves or others and not to touch equipment unless instructed to do so by a member of Music Service staff.

8. The use of mobile telephones during rehearsals is not permitted.

9. By joining the ensemble members also make a commitment to play in the termly concerts. If absence is unavoidable, notification should be given as above (number 6). Attendance at rehearsals and concerts is monitored. If attendance falls below an acceptable standard, membership may be discontinued.

10. If the ensemble member has a medical condition the Music Service should know about or there is a change to his/her medical circumstances, it is important to inform the Ensemble Co-ordinator or the Music Service office in writing.

11. From time to time there will be photographs, videos/DVDs made of ensemble members during performances and/or rehearsals for promotional purposes. Names of members may appear on our website and in our concert programmes.

12. Each ensemble has its own concert dress for performances. Where this is appropriate, this can be purchased through the Ensembles Co-ordinator.

13. If a member of an ensemble loses sheet music, it may be necessary to make a charge.

14. Please notify the Ensembles Co-ordinator or the Music Service in writing at least half a term in advance if your son/daughter intends to leave an ensemble. A full term's fees will be charged for any term or part of a term during which a member attends and where notice is not received.

15. Current terms and conditions, information and some application forms are available on our website:
