This CPD session will focus on how to use your voice with confidence, basic vocal technique and ideas for teaching songs in the classroom incorporating Kodály and Dalcroze methodology. Led by Senior Vocal Curriculum Leader, Emily Murphy and experienced vocal tutor Lynda Benn, this online session will build confidence and provide practical ideas and activities which can be used in your early years setting.

Protect Your Voice

Charanga Music Professional Webinar

To support peripatetic music instructors and music specialists, Charanga provides a large number of resources as part of Charanga Music Professional.

This webinar will look at those resources, and discuss how they can be used to enable the effective teaching of music in line with current safety guidelines. We will look at our resources for all instrumental families, in addition to those specifically for Wind and Brass players, and we will also spend time looking at START NOW – the brand new flexible course aimed at enabling individual and group tuition to be carried out face-to-face, or using a blended or remote teaching model.

Charanga Musical School Introduction Webinar

Charanga are delighted to work in partnership with Sutton Music Service to offer fully subsidised access and training support for all Primary and Special schools across the borough.

Used by specialist music teachers and non-specialists alike, Charanga Musical School provides week-by-week lessons for all primary year groups as well as resources to support cross curricular learning and songs and school productions for any occasion. 

We are very pleased to be running this twilight webinar to show you the model curriculum it provides and now an Adapted for COVID Scheme for those worried about teaching music safely.  You will learn how to navigate the Charanga platform, including Yumu, the platform that children can access at home.  We will also explore a wealth of practical music making ideas that support curriculum learning whatever the current guidance.

KS1 Big Sing CPD session

Key Stage 1

This session is aimed at the primary schools participating in our KS1 Big Sing project, led by Senior Vocal Curriculum Leader, Emily Murphy. The resources for the project are distributed at this session and it is an opportunity for choir leaders to learn how the project works, try out some warm-up ideas and explore the massed choir pieces. It is also an opportunity to develop your skills and confidence as a KS1 choir leader.

Engaging Changing Voices

Aimed at choir leaders and practitioners working with adolescent voices, this session delves into the physical changes that take place during vocal development and how to support young singers. Explore different ways of keeping young people engaged in singing through adolescence and beyond with our Senior Vocal Curriculum Leader, Emily Murphy.
